Dumbledore's Army
- Commentary
Dumbledore’s Army is a song written in the
boogie-woogie style of the bands of the
1930s/1940s, in particular the Andrews Sisters.
For those of you who don’t know them, the Andrews
Sisters were particularly famous for their morale
boosting music during World War II, always singing
in close three part harmony together. We
decided to write Dumbledore’s Army in the style of
the Andrews Sisters as their rabble rousing
encouragement fitted perfectly with Hermione’s
attempt to get people to join the DA.
Not only
do Ginny and the Weasleys happily welcome back
Hermione in this song, we also have a new recruit;
Luna Lovegood joins us for the very first time!
(Fred and George don’t feature on this song as
they needed more time to re-fill their stock of
skiving snack-boxes.) Ginny had great fun
recording this with Luna, but unfortunately
Hermione got a bit tired of constantly reminding
her in which direction the microphone was.
Ginny,
Hermione and Luna invite us to join Dumbledore’s
Army, with a toe-tapping upbeat song, complete
with some (rather unsuccessful) rhyming
improvisation from the girls! Look out for our
long list of DA members, we had great fun trying
