Hermione's Plan - Commentary
This is the first Ginny and the Weasleys song to
feature Hermione Granger (who enjoyed organising
everyone’s rehearsal schedules) along with a most
impressive vocal line-up including: Ginny (of
course), Ron (after much encouragement), Bill,
Charlie, Percy, Fred and George and by special
invitation, Dean, Neville and Seamus who joined
the boys to complete ‘Hermione’s Choir’! Arthur
consented to play the trumpet, while Molly stuck
to making everyone endless bacon sandwiches and
cups of tea. Everyone had so much fun singing
this song it was almost a shame Harry wasn’t
allowed to join in.
Ginny was
inspired to write this song after a conversation
with Hermione during which Hermione suggested that
the best way to win over Harry's affections would
be for Ginny to just relax and be herself. We
chose a Gospel style for this song because it
fitted well with the two lead vocalists and we
wanted a choir to echo and emphasise
Hermione's wonderful advice. (We also suspect that
when it comes to musical style Hermione is a bit
of a diva).
Fred and
George insisted on wearing gospel robes for the
recording session and they couldn’t resist sewing
Percy’s sleeves together as a joke, poor Percy. |
